What is free, and what does a subscription add?
Reading, highlights, search, the Verse of the Day, playback speed, the sleep timer, chapter repeat, and listening with your phone’s built-in voice are free, with no limit. The natural voice, Voice 1 (Samuel), is free for 3 chapters a day over the internet, plus 3 more chapters each time you choose to watch a short ad, up to 3 ads a day. While you use the app for free, a banner ad is shown at the bottom of the screen. There are two subscriptions:
- Pro — no ads, Voice 1 (Samuel) without a daily limit, background listening with lock-screen controls, and offline playback of verses you have played
- Premium — everything in Pro, plus all four voices (Samuel, Grace, Arthur, Hannah)
Each is available monthly or yearly; prices are shown in the App Store or Google Play. Your first subscription starts with a 1‑week free trial; when it ends, the paid subscription starts automatically, so cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you don’t want to continue. Subscriptions are covered by Apple’s standard Terms of Use (EULA) and, on Android, also by the Google Play Terms of Service.
How do I manage, cancel, or restore a subscription?
- iPhone and iPad: Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → KJV Bible (Apple Support)
- Android: Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions (Google Play Help)
After you cancel, your benefits last until the end of the current billing period. If you changed devices, or still see ads after subscribing, tap Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases in the app. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple and Google — request a refund from Apple · Google Play refund policies
How do I change the speed, set a sleep timer, or repeat a chapter?
Tap the waveform button to start listening, or tap ▶︎ before a verse to start from there. While you listen, tap the 1× button on the player bar near the bottom of the screen (it shows your current speed) to set:
- Playback Speed — from 0.5× to 2×
- Sleep Timer — 15, 30, or 60 minutes, or End of Chapter
- Repeat Chapter — read the chapter again instead of moving on to the next
The natural voice won’t play.
The natural voices play over the internet. With Pro or Premium, verses you have played are saved on your device and play offline after that. Your phone’s built-in voice works offline.
- If you see Today’s free chapters are done, you have heard the day’s 3 free chapters. Watch a short ad for 3 more (up to 3 times a day), subscribe, or keep going with your phone’s voice.
- Check your internet connection and restart the app.
- Clear the saved audio: Settings → Voice → Saved Audio → Clear Cache, then play again.
- If it still fails, email us the verse that won’t play (for example, Genesis 1:1).
What are the red letters and the lighter words?
The words of Jesus are shown in red. The supplied words, which the King James translators added for sense and which are printed in italics in the 1769 text, can be shown lighter than the rest of the verse.
Each is a switch in Settings → Reading: Words of Jesus in Red is on at first, and Dim Supplied Words is off at first.
Where are my highlights and reading history kept?
Highlights, where you stopped reading or listening, the chapters you read recently, your settings, your Verse of the Day settings, and your reading streak are stored only on your device and are never sent to our servers. There is no account, so nothing syncs between devices, and deleting the app deletes this data.
On Android, if device backup is turned on, this data may be included in your device backup in your Google account and restored when you reinstall the app. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I get the Verse of the Day?
Open Settings → Notifications → Verse of the Day, then turn on the Verse of the Day switch and choose a Time. The app asks for notification permission the first time. Turn on Include My Highlights to mix the verses you highlighted into the 286 chosen verses.
Notifications are scheduled on your device; they are not push messages from a server. On Android, allow Alarms & reminders when the app asks, so the verse arrives right at the time you set.
Where does the Bible text come from?
The app contains the King James Version in the 1769 standard text, from eBible.org (eng-kjv2006). The King James Version is in the public domain outside the United Kingdom; in the UK, it is under the Crown’s letters patent. No study notes or section headings have been added; the Psalm titles, which are part of the text, are kept. The source is credited in the app (at the bottom of Settings) and on this page.
This is an independent app made by Innomote LLC. It is not made or endorsed by any Bible society or publisher.
